Thriving Cities: Integrated Land Use and Transport Planning

This report documents case studies from the UK, Germany and Sweden showing the benefits when transport planning and land use planning are integrated, and the problems when they are not.  It reviews the factors that fundamentally determine travel behaviour and proposes three golden rules for national planning policy.

Masterplanning Checklist for Sustainable Transport coverMasterplanning Checklist for Sustainable Transport in New Developments

This project assessed the master-planning policies required to achieve sustainable travel patterns in Housing Growth Areas.  It reviewed academic and official research to compile evidence for how different planning variables, e.g. proximity to public transport services, impact on travel behaviour.  The report draws on the resulting masterplanning checklist for sustainable transport in order to assess practice and policy in the Thames Gateway Area.

Carried out for the Campaign for Better Transport. (2008)
